| Colorful Hala February Festival begins |

KUWAIT: With the participation of thousands of citizens and expatriates, the 13th annual Hala February Festival (2012) began in pomp and fervor yesterday afternoon at Salmiya’s Salem Al-Mubarak street, said Waled Jassim Festival Coordinator. He noted that the event will go on till February 29. Jassim added that this year’s festival will include a shopping festival in addition to recreational, social, cultural and sports related activities that meet the needs of all visitors – citizens, residents or visitors from other countries. “The Hala February Carnival has become a key attraction where family members find the kind of joy and pleasure they have always sought,” he stressed. The official opening ceremony began at 1 pm at Salem Al-Mubarak street. All traffic was diverted so that participants could march freely and safely. Various expatriate communities took part in the ceremony by performing their respective folk dances and playing traditional music. Many competitions were organized and instant prizes were offered to members of the audience. The carnival was sponsored by a prominent local companies.
