| Asian Air Gun Championship kicks off |

KUWAIT: President of Kuwait and Asian Shooting Federations, Vice President of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said "we are reaping the fruits of relentless efforts and cooperation between Asian countries through paying more attention to sports in the continent.
Sheikh Salman was speaking after the official ceremony of the 4th Asian Air Gun Championship in Kuwait which will last until October 23rd, 2011. Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said these competitions, at this important level gives our shooters the opportunity to gain international experience and improve their skills, which will help in the future.
Sheikh Salman said competitions will not be easy because there are top world champions participating. The Asian Shooting Sport Confederation will meet this evening at Regency Palace, to renew its confidence in Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, for another 4 year term as ASC President.
Sheikh Salman, who is also President of Kuwait Shooting Sport Federation and vice president of ISSF, did not face any opponent, in appreciation of his major role in advancing the games in a short period. His plans for the ASC were fruitful as results of Asian Shooters place the continent in a highly advanced place in Olympic and international competitions, be it in shotguns, Air Guns and archery.
The organizing committee presented a magnificent opening show on Tuesday evening at Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad Hall at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. The opening ceremony reflected the major interest of Kuwait Shooting Sport Federation in this significant went.
The opening ceremony included a documentary about the development of the shooting sport under the leadership of Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud and the board of directors. The film showed Kuwaiti shooters achievements at the regional and international levels.
Chairman of the Board and Director General of Public Authority for Youth and Sports Major General (Rt) Faisal Al-Jazaf, who declared the tournament open congratulated Sheikh Salman and the Organizing Committee on the opening ceremony which shows the efforts that guarantees the tournament's success. Al-Jazaf said Kuwait Shooting, proved itself at the Arab and Asian levels due to the sincere efforts by the officials and hoped this success continues.
President of the Arab Shooting Federation Eng. Duaij Al-Otaibi expressed his satisfaction with the events of the 4th Asian Air Gun Championship, adding that the organizing committee will continue with the same efforts and dedication to ensure organizational and administrative success at all levels. In the Men's 10m Air Rifle
China's Qinan Zhu was first by scoring 700.2 out of 700 points followed by India's Abhinav Bindra who scored 697.6 out of 700, while his compatriot Satyendra Singh scored 696.7 out of 700.
In the 10m Air Rifle Men Team
The team of Qinan Zhu, Tianyou and Tao Wang from China were first with a score of 1786 points, followed by Indian team of Abhinav Bindra, Satyendra Singh and Gagan Narang scoring 1779 points and the Iranian team of Mahdi Ahmad, Hossein Bagheri and Saber Parasti finished third with a score of 1773 points.
In the Women's 10m Air Rifle event
Iran's Narjes Emamgholinejad was first with a score of 501.2/600 points, followed by Siling Yi from China with a score of 501/600 and Xiangyan Wan also from China scoring 501/600.
While in the team event China's Siling Yi, Xiangyan Wan and Yue Zhang were first with a score of 1195 points followed by Singapore's Yafei Li, Jasmine Ser and Huan Cheng with a score of 1187 while Iran's team of Narjis Emamgholinejad, Elaheh Ahmadi and Nesa Paryab was third with a score 1186 points.
