Public Works Ministry in process of conducting 98 projects

  KUWAIT: The Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Engineering at the Ministry of Public Works Engineer Husam Al-Tahous affirmed that his sector is in the process of implementing about 98 projects for 22 government institutions to the tune of around two billion Kuwaiti dinars. The official pointed out that most of these projects are meant for the Ministry of Interior. During a press conference on Tuesday, Al-Tahous singled out the Jaber Hospital which costs about KD 302 million, noting that 20 percent of the project has been completed and that it is due to be accomplished by May 2014. He also cited the new headquarters of the Ministry of Education which costs about KD 76.8 million, adding that 18 percent of the project has been completed and that it will be accomplished by 2014. The official also mentioned a number of health centers to be constructed at the cost of KD 33.9 million and a new General Department for Special Forces to the tune of KD 57.8 million. He also cited a number of projects designed for the expatriate manpower in the country, such as the Single Labor Force Housing to the tune of KD 28.8 million, adding that the project is expected to be completed by next March. Al-Tahous further stated that plans are underway to implement a Government Agency for Tests and Quality Control to the tune of KD 11.3 million. The official, in the meantime, indicated that about 29 projects are being designed, singling out the New Terminal which he described as the largest and the most complex, among other mega projects.
