ELM Trading Company, Ministry of Health introduce new technology in healthcare

  KUWAIT: ELM Trading Company has introduced some unique integrated solutions for the athletes and patients in Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation and physiotherapy at Crowne Plaza in collaboration with the Administration of Physical Therapy services at the Ministry of Health (MOH). The seminar and workshop was inaugurated by Dr Ahmad K. Al- Sharrah of the Administration of Physical Therapy Services, MOH on behalf of Dr Nabil Al- Hunaif, Director of Administration of Physical Therapy Services.

Amit Chaddha, Sales and Marketing Director of the group introduced the participating principal companies from Italy, Denmark and Germany who are the market leaders in their respective fields in Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. It was announced that Chaddha and his team of professionals will be focusing in the coming months on bringing new innovative technologies and ideas in the healthcare sector to further improve the lives of people of Kuwait.

Dr Mamta Tomar, Assistant Managing Director of the group welcomed the audience and said that "We recognize the challenge in linking strategy, processes, and technology in the expected development in healthcare." She also stressed that ELM will continue to be partnered with the top international companies and technology establishments worldwide in order to ensure its position in the domain of Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. She also added that ELM is a part of GFS Group; a very diversified group that caters to the sectors of Healthcare, Environment, Water treatment, Civil and Electromechanical and the group has successfully executed a wide range of projects in both the public and private sectors.

Professor Jasem Ramadan of the Department of Physiology, from Kuwait University was the first speaker, he emphasized the "Advantages and importance of Exercise Testing" in Physiology and Sports Medicine to improve the efficiency and performance of athletes in various sports and stressed on the importance of using exercise testing during a physiotherapy and rehabilitation session as no exercise or session is the same for all. Ramadan is the Odyssey award winner from the American Academy of Sports Medicine in 2010 from Kuwait.

Among the participants explaining the various products on display was Luca Minesso, International Marketing Director of BTS Bioengineering who introduced the only integrated system in the world called "SPORTS LAB" which helps surgeons rectify problems in patients with performance issues due to injury and to help Physicians enhance the performance of their players in various sports. He added that the wireless electronic devices and computerized camera systems of this sports lab makes it unique in that it can be used indoors as well as on the field. The system would provide an in depth analysis for a doctor and physiotherapist to treat its patients and players with the utmost care.

Also presenting was Allan Vinther, Head of Guldmann Consulting who introduced the new and innovative mobility solution for hospitals, hotels and private establishments called the "Ceiling Hoist Systems". These systems are in use worldwide to avoid accidents and injuries for paramedical staff and are a valuable tool for rehabilitation and early mobilization of patients. Vinther also highlighted on the ease of deploying these mobility solutions in any existing establishment such hospitals, clinics, private homes or including these solutions from the start in new hospital build projects, Airports, shopping malls, universities, and more.

Al Watan Daily also heard from Sipke Schaaf who is the Managing Director of Wellsystem. Schaaf introduced the "Hydrojet Technology" based Dry Water Hydrotherapy system for the relief of back pain and body relaxation. He said approximate 80% of world's population suffers from some form of back and body pain. This technology is extremely effective in alleviating the pain and is being used in various countries across the world. This new and innovative technology helps in improving blood flow, relaxing muscles, increasing energy and strengthening the immune system. This technology is well suited for use in hospitals, sport clinics and medical centers to be mainly used by orthopaedists and physiotherapists.

Engineer Sumita Tomar, Technical Director of the group, was very excited about ELM launching the products, especially the "BTS Sports Lab" which is currently being used by some of the world's renowned football teams like REAL MADRID, BARCELONA, and AC MILAN to evaluate and improve the performance of their teams and players.

She also highlighted that the mobility technology introduced by ELM's partner Guldmann is not just limited to the physiotherapy and rehabilitation section but can be used across the hospitals, clinics and medical centers in various departments for the movement of patients from one place to another. It is also an excellent working tool for the hospital staff working with bariatric patients, disabled patients and critically ill patients. Talking about the Hydroject technology launched by ELM's partner Wellsystem, Eng Sumita stressed the ease of use of this therapy system to provide relief from back and joint pain, muscle tension and cervical migraines.
