 Sat, 19 May 2012

KUWAIT CITY : The roommate — of an Egyptian man who was found dead in one of the rooms of a motel in Sharq in April 2012 — who was declared ‘absconding’ by police has surrendered to the Jahra police, reports Al-Anba daily.
In his statement to the police, the suspect said he has no relation to the crime whatsoever. During interrogation he also denied that he was consuming drugs with the dead Egyptian.
He told interrogators, to the contrary ‘I tried in vain to force my friend give up drugs but he would not listen to me’.
Seven drug syringes were found near the corpse of the victim according to police sources. It is not known if the syringes were full or empty. The victim was a guest of the motel.
It was also reported according to preliminary investigations the victim died as a result of drug overdose but there was suspicion of homicide due to a blunt force trauma to the head.
Reports had said the victim was accompanied by a compatriot the night before his corpse was found. A person who identified himself as the manager of the motel, but refused to give his name, had said the victim and another person were involved in a verbal spat.
According to security sources another Egyptian had earlier arrived at the motel to inquire about the deceased friend.
The staff informed him he was in his room but the expatriate insisted he was ‘not’ because his calls were not being answered. When the motel staff went to the room they found the man sprawled on the floor.
