KUWAIT: Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital Project Manager Ali Nadoum asserted that the project is considered to be one of Kuwait's national mega projects and is a source of pride to all Kuwaitis. He said that citizens can visit the project to tour the hospital and see the current work being done. He and remarked that everyone working on this project is exerting sterling efforts to complete it within the planned time frames set by the contract. He added that all parts of the hospital witness constructions, except the dental area, because the project needs the available space to move equipment necessary for the project. He revealed that the dental area will be constructed during the coming three months, and that 30 percent of the project's buildings are underground, such as the basements, hospital floors, car parking, and central unit building.
Nadoum said that the project is falling only five months behind schedule, which in the case of such a mega project is normal given that sometimes due to unexpected reasons matters maybe delayed. He added that all those involved in the project are keen to compensate for this delay through working extra hours and increasing the number of technical workers, where 600 laborers will join soon; thus bringing up the total of workers to 2,300 laborers, engineers, administrators, and technicians.
Moreover, he explained that this project should not be taken lightly and cannot be built overnight since it is challenging and complicated. He explained that some mistakes in the design are avoided during the construction process, not to mention the lack of skillful laborers. He noted that the challenging underground parts of the project are almost complete.
