Picitup just announced its new Smart Application for the Android Platform, it is called the iOnRoad. It is a visual radar app that mounts on your dash like a GPS Navigation device and will warn you of potential collisions. According to the developers, Alon Atsmon, CEO of Picitup, the iOnRoad app could only have been developed for Android because it takes advantage of the processing power and multi-tasking capabilities of high-end Android handsets, something that is even missing from even the iPhone 4S.
The iOnRoad Driving App claims to improve driving in real-time using the power of advanced Smartphones, it alerts the driver of dangers ahead using text-to-speech to read incoming notifications, it also offers Social Integration which enables the user to share driving achievements on Facebook and Twitter, it allows the user to take photos of reckless drivers and hazards then post them to Facebook plus each user gets a Personal Web Dashboard that gives access to latest drives and alerts, allowing the user to improve their driving skills.
